Christmas Time!

Hello everyone, I've realized its been forever since I updated this thing. In 2 days Christmas will be here, and I hope everyone is remembering the true reason for Christmas....PRESENTS!!!! haha jk. I hope we remember the birth of our Savior and his sacrafice for us. Also I've been thinking a lot about the homeless this time of year. I know a lot of times when we see homeless people we have ill feelings towards them like their dirty aliens or something but they were once innocent kids like us at one point that made some bad decisions or some bad things happened to them out of their control putting them out on the streets. I know with these economic times, were all pinching pennies but don't feel like money is the only thing we can offer them. A warm plate of food, a blanket, jacket, a friendly conversation, or even a smile can help these people feel the Christmas spirit. Even better an invitation to church. Sorry I don't have enough money to give all my friends something but I do send my love and friendship. Merry Christmas!

Great Session!

General Conference is coming up but this isn't about one of those sessions. This is about another great "skate" session I had. My friend Blake Johnson is a photographer and calls me up when he gets some free time away from being a husband, father, student and empolyee to go shoot some skate photos. We just went to the Orem park and was lucky enough that it wasn't crowded with the usual bikers, razor scooters, and whatever other random thing you can ride with wheels and were able to shoot these photos. There's a lot more that he hasn't emailed me but here are two that he has. A backside Ollie and a wallride. Thanks Blake for the great shots, and thanks skating for making everyday an adventure in the life of tobal.

What in the world is this creation?!

All I have to say about this picture of Carrot Top is...when you have low self esteem, living in a city of image (Vegas), and have lots of money to change things you don't like about yourself, you end up looking like this. Be proud of who you are, your all beautiful people you don't need to change anything.

My favorite day...Saturday

I'm sure most of you are like me and have Saturday listed under your favorite day. Unlike most of you Saturday is not my favorite day cause its my day off of work, its because it's the one day out of the week that I can skate my favorite street spots. I always drive around and look for skate spots and it sucks whenever I find something soooo good to skate, like it was sculpted by angels from heaven, and I can't skate it cause its infront of a business, school or a store. So what do I do...wait for Saturday to roll around, put on my favorite pair of Vans on, throw my board in the car, and hit that spot up all day. When the sun goes down, I thank the ledge or stair for the great memories and tell it I'll see it a week from now (:

Tobal Army

Hello everyone. I've been posting a lot of propaganda on Facebook for people to check out my blog. I've made false promises that by becoming a follower of my blog, their financial problems will go away, and their sex life will increase by leaps and bounds. haha But as we all know, that by reading this blog none of that will happen. Like great minds of the past the reason why I'm trying to get tons of followers is to form my own army to do the same thing I try to do everyday.....TRY TO TAKE OVER THE WORLD!!!!!! and maybe some charity work.
sincerely,
Tobal Head Commander of the cyber blog army.

My joke

Today I decided to go up at church and share my testimony to my new ward. I was more nervous about the joke I was going to open up with then anything else but I thought " oh well, if it bombs it bombs." So I noticed that no one was going up so I stood up and started walking over to the front just going over in my head the joke I was thinking of so I wouldn't bomb it. I began by introducing myself then said, " I was sitting there and felt prompted to stand up and share with you all...this multi level marketing business I'm doing.." I couldn't help but start laughing cause I thought it was funny but quickly realized the room was still super silent. LOL. Anyways, thats it. Bombing jokes in public can suck but at least you get a cool story to blog about.

Godspeed????

Have you ever heard that saying before "Godspeed" when someone is saying bye to another person. What does that mean? I've never understood it. Sometimes I catch myself using it, then afterwards think about it, and it makes no sense to me. You want someone to travel at the speed of God. Very unusual......well, till my next post. Godspeed.

Weener

Has anyone else noticed that this actor always plays the Weener in movies? I guess he's just born with one of those faces that you just want to punch. That's all for now...

My Birthday!

Hello everyone in Cyberland! I just had my birthday and thought I would write about it. It was on the 21st and I turned the whopping 27. Its pretty crazy when I think that I've been alive for 27 years. I hope I've done some good, even though I know I've done tons of bad. BUHAHAHAH (evil laugh) Anyways, thanks everyone that wished me a happy birthday. Its always nice to hear those words on your special day. So this is what I did....woke up sweating to death cause the summer's heat, ate a bowl of Granola Cereal, then went to the bathroom to take a shower where I stopped for a second in the mirror to admire the nicely tanned, and toned body God gave me. haha Then started my shower when I saw a spider crawling around in the tub. I aimed the shower head to kill the spider, then paid more attention to not letting it touch me while floating around in the water then actually washing my body. After that I met up with my homie Doug Turner, who might get mad that I used his actual name, so we'll just call him Doug Turner. haha We went to UVU so I can figure out why I havn't received my financial aid yet. I was help by a lady named Capri who was kinda rude at first then after I told her I was 27 (which was closer to her age) she was super nice and walked me through the whole process. I felt like she was super flirty with me, and for a second thought about asking her out when I saw in her pocket a pack of cigerattes and was instantly turned off. Sorry all my smoker friends reading this, I'm just not down for the Tobacco. After I got everything cleared and okay'd for my financial aid I left with Doug to the Orem Skate park where my homie Mckay Stevens a.k.a Mckay Stevens met us there. It was nice cause there was only 3 other kids skating the park so it was to crowded. I did feel a little awkward cause I didn't know any of the 3 kids that were there but they all called me by my name like they knew me and told me that they heard I moved to Salt Lake. I didn't really care that they somehow knew about my life, but I just felt bad cause I didn't know any of their names so I just kept saying stuff like "Yah Dude", " Thats cool dude", "alright dude" "see ya later dudes". After about half an hour Doug, Mckay and myself left Orem park and hit up an Arby's in Salt Lake where Doug proceeded to buy the 5 for 5 combo to split with me for my bday. Nice Present Doug! you cheap bastard!!! lol I'm totally kidding. Thanks dude. After chilling at arby's for about 20 minutes where we talked about nothing but skating, girls, and mexican accents we went to the Daybreak Skate park. As soon as we pulled up I was kinda over it already cause there's not that much fun stuff to skate for me there, but my other friends Drew and Jared were coming up to meet us so we chilled and skated for a good 3 hours. We left Daybreak and stopped at the South Jordan park which was really fun but I was soooo tired and drained cause the night before I stayed up watching "Curb Your Enthusiasm" till 6 a.m then woke up at 7:30 a.m. I got a ride home with Drew and Jared where I can't remember what we were talking about except some place called "Dragonskeep" or something where all the dudes into Dungeons and Dragons go play at. haha I got home, and literally slept for 6 hours. I woke up, hopped in the shower and noticed the spider was still there stuck to the tub. I rinsed him down the drain and said a prayer for his soul to go to heaven haha then went to eat with my family. I hate restaurant food for some reason so I turned down all their suggestions of places to eat and chose to go to EZ take out burger (rip off of In and Out) got the food and went to my brother Sam's for a movie night. We ended up watching "Forever Strong" which I do not recommend to anyone. I laughed more at the cheesy moments more than enjoying the movie. After that I started to watch "Bottlerocket" before I realized I was falling back asleep. So I left my brother's place, dropped my mom off, then went to my apartment where I popped in disc 2 of season 5 of Curb your Enthusiasm and fell asleep to the sweet sound of Larry David's voice on the t.v.
Thanks everyone for the great Bday!

Hawaii

In case you haven't seen my facebook statuses I'm finally going back to school so I can be the oldest freshman alive. haha. I signed up for a bunch of online classes that surprisingly all go towards getting my general ed done. Intro to theater, Meteorology, Some government one, and something else. haha Sorry I haven't really memorized what I'm taking. Anyways, I took all online classes so I can move out to Hawaii and do school from there. The reason why is pretty gnarly. I've been to Hawaii once after my mission and really loved Laie, and since I've left the place I've had the same reoccurring dream over and over and this is it.....I'm riding a Vespa Scooter in Laie, with no shirt, some DC Linx shoes, and white Volcom boardshorts. haha I'm not even joking...I've had that dream over 30 times, the exact same thing every time. So thats why I've decided to go out there cause I figure there has to be some reason why I keep having that dream, and I like surfing (:

Skate Camp

Last week I drove to Visalia, CA and went to the YMCA/Element skate camp and literally had the time of my life. I grew up seeing footage of this place in all the skate videos but never had the money to go. Now at 26, my buddy Drew called me up and said he's going to a play a show there for the kids and that if I wanted to go, we can stay for free. So we left Sunday morning and drove through my hometown of Ceres, CA where we stopped at my old stomping ground..The Ceres Skatepark. It was actually kinda funny cause this kid that always did a handstand on his board was still there and while we were leaving I saw him doing a handstand on his board. I just laughed to myself..haha. We then drove to my best friends house by Fresno, where we watched a movie and repeated the same jokes that we've been saying since 8th grade. haha. The next morning we woke up, ate some kix, then drove up in the mountains and saw the raddest thing ever....skate parks in the middle of the freaking mountains by the Lake and a big sign that said "Welcome to the YMCA/Element skate camp" I finally Made it!!!
The whole week, was just skating, teaching little kids, eating, kayaking, swimming in the lake, making skateboards....etc. I met tons of cool people from all over the world from Washington, to Barbados. My friend Drew played an awesome show for all the kids and sold tons of merchandise and cd's. ( You should listen to his music, really good...just google Drew Danberry and it should bring up a bunch of stuff). Anyways, my legs feel like jello. I lost like 8 lbs. from just skating all day, and not having any soda around to drink. So overall the camp was a success and I can't wait to go again next year.

Shoes

I was getting ready to clean the toxic wasteland I call my bedroom when I noticed how many freaking pair of shoes I have. Most people associate a shoe addiction with women but another breed of shoe lovers are...skateboarders. I don't know why but almost every skater I know loves shoes. Maybe its the fact that we go through them so fast from skating in them but for some reason new shoes is always a priority in my life. It sucks sometimes cause I'll have to face the decision of paying my phone bill, or buying the new pair of Nike SB blazers, which normally ends up with me having a disconnected cell phone. haha Anyways, if anybody wants to know what my favorite shoe is for some odd reason ( my birthday is next month August 21st) I love Vans, the shoe is called Half Cab and I wear a size 9. haha So the story and moral to this post is......I need a girlfriend so I can stop writing about my shoes!!!! I've really hit a low point in life right now. haha Take care and thank you for taking a trip down the Life Of Tobal.

A Letter to the King of Pop

Dear Michael Jackson,
My name is Cris. I've been a fan of your music my whole life. I know your now dead but if by any chance they have the internet in heaven and you happen to stumble upon my awesome blog this letter is for you. Since I was young I always danced to your music from Billie Jean, The way you make me feel, to your later hits You Rock my world etc..... One day when I was 14 my best friends Jared, and Josh dressed up with black high waters with white socks, one white glove, and unbuttoned white shirts and went to a church dance. We didn't put the white gloves on at first cause we didnt want to spoil the surprise. We went up to the DJ and requested that he plays " Billie Jean." After a few songs passed by we went out to the hallway to get a drink. I remember gulping down some cold koolaid when I heard that famous bassline start playing. We all jumped up and yelled out " He's playing the song! he's playing the song!" We rushed in the side doors, ran to the very front of the dance floor and began to grab our crotch while thrusting our hips to the beat. All the other kids were gathered around cheering/ laughing as we began to spin on our heels and throw one arm up, pointing the sky, screaming.
Its now 2009 and I'm 26 years old and I still talk about that night with my buddies and how much fun we had. Thanks to you and your music I'm sure millions of people have had great memories in their life whether funny, sad, or happy while listening to your music. You seemed to have a great heart, and cared alot for the world. I'm sorry your childhood didn't really exist, and even your adulthood was filled with lies, broken friendships, tabloids etc....but now your at peace and just wanted you to know I appreciated everything you did.
love your fan,
Tobal

Science Fiction

How come there's no good sci - fi movies anymore? Yes, I am a nerd. haha. My dad was way into Science Fiction so it rubbed off on me. I grew up watching Star Trek every night, The Outer Limits, and movies like Star Wars, Buckaroo Bonzai, The Martian Chronicles, and now there's no good sci fi movies or shows on. It sucks.
Funny Story that just popped in my head. My dad had this newsletter he made monthly called " Osiris". He would go by the name "The Cosmic Ray" since his first name was Ray. I'm telling you all this so you can picture how big into space and aliens my pops was. Well he would also do meetings where people would gather at some diner and shared abduction stories, or show pictures of UFO's. So one day Me, my brother Ray, and my Dad went out to the country with a camera and a fake UFO we made from wrapping tin foil around a frisbee shaped metal tree stand we had from Christmas time and a taped gold marble at the bottom. We found a good location off the side of the road and my dad turned the camera on while my brother walked up the hill. After Ray got to the top my dad handed me this big blanket to catch the thing in while Ray threw the fake saucer high in the air while my Dad took pics of it. I'll have to find the copies of it and post it on here. Anyways, the pics came out good and the next meeting my dad had, Ray and I sat in the back and listened as my dad fed everyone this biggest B.S story about how 3 lights came towards him then flew off as he took this picture of the one of the saucers. Awww...good times.

Introduction into Skateboarding

Most people that know me, know that I love skateboarding but I don't think many people know how I got into it. So before I try to fall asleep which is most likely to fail since I'm on the worst sleeping schedule known to mankind I thought I would tell you how.
I grew up most of my life in the Central Valley of California in a town called Ceres or what I like to to call "The place where dreams don't come true" haha. I went to an elementary school named Walter White till the middle of sixth grade where I switched to the school across the street from our new house. Of course being the new kid at school, everyone was coming up introducing themselves and I instantly became friends with two guys...Mike Bringleson and Carlos Garza. I was really into breakdancing at the time, and would always breakdance at school and try to battle kids. My friend Mike was into skating but never really told me how much he liked it until a few years later in 8th grade. He always told me they were remodeling his bedroom cause he was embarrassed that he had skate pics from magazines all over his wall. Anyways, one day I was there in my dancing gear which consisted of dirty white sweats and a grey pair of pumas and I asked him to show me how to " Bunny Hop " on a skateboard. He first corrected me by telling me it's called an "ollie" and gave me instructions on how to perform the main trick you need to learn to accomplish any other type of trick in skateboarding. After an hour of trying it on the carpet...I ollied! Since that day, I've been hooked. Soon later I bought a used board of some dude and pushed everywhere. Years later, I'm now 26 and my mind is still consumed with this hobby. No matter what is going on in my life, whether it's going great, or the complete opposite all I have to do is just grab my board and start pushing and my problems fade away and I get the biggest smile on my face. Thanks Mike for sharing your hobby with me so many years ago. ( side note - if anyone is in Ceres, on Moffet Rd. infront of the Jr. High Mae Hensley, there's a row of trees on the side of the sidewalk. Infront of the first tree you can look down at the sidewalk and see where Mike and I wrote in the wet cement ( Cris, Mike, skate forever) Keep Rolling.

My First Entry

Hello world. I thought I would start a blog filled with stories of life. Some will be funny, sad, spiritual, inappropriate and so on. They'll be random subjects of whatever is going on in my head that day. With some videos and pictures. I hope you all will continue to check it out and experience one day at a time in the life of Tobal.
